At the age of 8 years old, I began learning and interacting with people that were diagnosed with Dementia. I would accompany my mother to the Memory Care Unit in a Nursing Home where she played games with them, helped them eat, sit and just be a companion. After years of interacting with seniors, I knew this is what I was meant to do.

I started my career working for several large Assisted Living Communities as a Caregiver, receptionist, and personal care giver. Although fulfilling, I realized I wanted to work in a smaller scale Assisted Living program to be able to provide one-on-one care.

I was approached by a work colleague to become one of the first team members of a new 16 private suite Memory Care in Conroe, Texas. I was excited about the opportunity to help better serve Seniors with Memory Impairment. Over a short period of time, I climbed the ladder with Village Green Alzheimer’s care Home and in 2015, accepted the position as the Community Relations Director. I helped with branding and keeping the Community full while working to obtain my CALM (Certified Assisted Living Manager).

As a core member of the Village Green team, not only did I remain educated and involved with the needs of Seniors, but also helped to promote the mission and culture of Village Green. Over the next few years, Village Green grew to 10 Communities, which includes Conroe, Cypress, Tomball, Champions, Kingwood, The Woodlands, and 3 Dallas Area Communities.

Since then, I have remained dedicated to educating not only myself, but the Communities, in the world of Dementia. I became a Certified Support Group Facilitator through the Alzheimer’s Association in 2019. I received the Certified Dementia Practitioner Certification in 2020 to be able to teach others about Alzheimer’s and Dementia and became a Certified Senior Advisor in 2023. I also co-facilitate support groups with families that have loved ones diagnosed with Dementia and participate in many Caregiver Conferences throughout the Houston Area so that I can continue to educate the public.
